🔍 Grammar Focus
Let’s look at two simple but important grammar points from the dialogue.
1. Describing Nouns with Colors
In French, adjectives (like colors) usually come after the noun they describe. They also need to agree in gender with the noun. In our script, voiture (car) is a feminine noun.
Notice the difference:
- Chloé: Je choisis la voiture rouge. (I choose the red car.)
- Léo: Moi, je prends la voiture bleue. (Me, I take the blue car.)
The color rouge ends in an -e, so it looks the same for both masculine and feminine nouns. However, bleu is the masculine form. To describe the feminine noun voiture, we add an -e to make it bleue.
2. Making Simple Comparisons with “Plus”
To say that something is “more” than something else, you can use the structure plus + [adjective]. It’s a simple way to make a comparison.
We see two great examples in the script:
- Chloé: Ma voiture rouge est plus rapide. (My red car is faster / more fast.)
- Léo: C’est un jeu difficile. Plus difficile que le bouton « START ». (It’s a difficult game. More difficult than the “START” button.)
In the second example, que is used to mean “than” when you are directly comparing two things.
